Cover of Full Disclosure by Camryn GarrettA book that a certain friend is always telling you to read

A few of my friends keep telling me to read Full Disclosure by Camryn Garrett. In fact, they tell me so often to read it that I ended up putting it on my Summer TBR, which is honestly progress. Still, I haven’t actually picked up the book

Cover of Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida CórdovaA book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up

Jeez, I feel like I could put 400 books on here! But on I’m particularly embarrassed about is Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova. When I ordered my Goodreads TBR by date added, it was number 14 on there and I’m just wondering how it’s been on my TBR since 2015. I have own the Kindle copy! Everyone talks about how much they love this series! I’m just a terrible reader… I’ve been trying to get back into fantasy, so I gotta bump this one up.

Cover of A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

A book in a series you’ve started but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet

So I started reading V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic series and, like I do with most series I begin, I never finished it. It took me a year between the first two books and probably almost two years after finishing A Gathering of Shadows and hurting from that cliffhanger, I still haven’t picked up A Conjuring of Light. I have no excuse for this either! The library I work at has all three books! I could check it out and read it! Heck, I could even check out the first two and re-read them to get through them all in one go! But I’m just a bad reader. Maybe one of these days…

Cover of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of but never actually read

Okay, so this one I really should have read! I know The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is over-romanticized and probably doesn’t live up to the hype. (When has any classic lived up to the hype?) However, it seemed interesting when we talked about it in my 11th grade English class! Yes, I was assigned to read it. No, I didn’t read it. I do remember, though, that this was one that a lot of my classmates actually liked, and I remember finding the movie interesting when we watched it in class. So maybe one of these days I’ll pick it up from the library and see what beautiful imagery and metaphors I missed out on because I only read the key points on Spark Notes.

Cover of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read

I definitely missed the hype period of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and now I’m scared to pick it up because I’m so behind! Maybe if a second round of collective obsession happens when the screen adaptation comes out I’ll be peer pressured into finally reading it. Until then, it’s just… vaguely on my TBR. Like, I think it sounds interesting, but I don’t have actual plans to pick it up soon.

Cover of Simon vs the Homo Sapien's Agenda by Becky Albertalli

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love but you haven’t read yet

This one is a little different because I tried to read it in 12th grade, a couple of years before the movie came out. Somehow, I just couldn’t get into it, and I’m still ashamed to say I never read Simon vs the Homo Sapien Agenda by Becky Abertalli. But I did watch the movie! I cried my way through it just like everyone else because it’s so relatable and really packed that emotional punch.

Cover of I'll Be The One by Lyla Lee

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet

I definitely didn’t get distracted for a good 20 minutes to scroll through Instagram and see if I noticed a pattern of books on Bookstagram while writing this blog post… /s

Anyway, I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee is all over Bookstagram right now, and even though I haven’t picked it up yet, but I have reason to believe everyone is obsessed with it for good reason! I don’t have a copy yet because I’m still waiting a bit to see if my library buys a copy. But I’m really excited for this one and I’m so glad to see everyone else is enjoying it too!
