SBPT – Interview With It’s A Paige Turner

For those of you who have been following my blog this month, you probably know that I’ve been participating in the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by my friends Jessica, Amber, and Emily at The Book Bratz. For the past four weeks, my lovely partner, Paige @ It’s A Paige Turner and I have been working together to bring you some great bookish content. Now it’s about time you get to know a bit more about her, so here’s an interview I did with her about her blog, favorite books, life, and more!

Ben: What made you choose to start blogging?

Paige: I have always loved talking about books and admired people who had online platforms where they speak about books. I originally thought about doing BookTube, but I’m not super confident in front of a camera. I’ve always been more confident writing than speaking, so I figured blogging would be the best way for me talk about books online.

B: What do you find most challenging about blogging?

P: I find promoting my blog content to be the most challenging, because I had opted to use Squarespace rather than Blogger or WordPress and there isn’t as much of a built-in community. I do the normal Twitter and Instagram promotion, but I’m still in the process of looking for the best way to promote my content.

B: How would you describe your blogging style?

P: I would say that my blogging style is casual and a little bit quirky. I want my readers to feel like I’m they’re friend talking about books with them.

B: What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?

P: I work full-time in customer service and I’m back in school doing continuing studies before I apply for a Master’s program in Publishing. Besides reading, I spend my spare time writing, watching Netflix (probably watching Queer Eye for the millionth time), or having a beer with friends at one of the local breweries.

B: What is your favorite social media that you use to promote your blog? Why?

P: Overall, I would say that I prefer Instagram. The main page of my blog is very visual and I feel like this makes it easier to promote it on Instagram.

B: How do you come up with content for your blog?

P: If I have a day off I will try to pre-write as many blog posts as I can. I take a lot of inspiration from other creators because I am still starting out. Right now, it seems like all I’m doing is TBRs and Wrap Ups because of all the readathons going on, but I have a list of other types of content that I would like to put out that I’m excited to share in the future.

B: What is your 2018 Goodreads Reading Challenge goal?

P: It was 30, but I’ve been having such a good reading year so far that I’ve upped it to 52.

B: What has been your favorite read so far this year?

P: Such a hard question! I would have to go with either Simon versus the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli or Warcross by Marie Lu. I’m leaning a little more towards Warcross because I met Marie Lu at BookCon this year and I’ve always loved her books, but Simon versus the Homo Sapiens Agenda has also had such a huge impact on me that I can’t not call it one of my favourite books I’ve read this year.

B: Who is your favorite author?

P: This is very close tie between Pierce Brown (Red Rising) and Cassandra Clare (Shadowhunter Chronicles). Pierce Brown writes the really intriguing, action packed sci-fi novels that are like candy to the science fiction fan in me. Cassandra Clare’s books on the other hand have been there for me at many different stages of my life and she created one of my all-time favourite characters, Magnus Bane.

B: What book are you most excited to read next?

P: I’m really excited to read History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. I’ve heard that this is many people’s favourite Adam Silvera book. They Both Die At The End destroyed my feelings, so I’m going to be armed with tissues when I read this book.

B: Is there anything else you would like to say in this interview?

P: I’m planning on doing NaNoWriMo this year! I didn’t get to do Camp NaNoWriMo because the timing wasn’t the best, but I’m planning out my project for November. I’m also participating in the Booktubathon starting tomorrow (July 30th) and plan on posting reading up dates on my Instagram stories if you wanted to follow me at @instapaigeturner. I’m also on Twitter at @apaigetweeter! Also, of course Ben and I have more awesome content in store for August. 😉
