Yes, yes, I know. It’s not quite the end of 2019. I mean, we still have a little bit of November and all of December to worry about, but boy oh boy are those some busy times. When I mentally ran over my schedule for the rest of the year, I realized I’m not going to have so much more time for blogging and books. So now is honestly a fine time to be doing this tag.
Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?
I have a few that I’ve tried reading, but book slumps kept getting me in 2019. So I started and need to finish:
- How To Be Remy Cameron by Julian Winters
- Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter To The World by Ashley Herring Blake
- Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore
These are books I’ve started and put on pause in 2019, not books that I’ve dropped/decided not to finish.
Do you have an autumnal book to transition to the end of the year?
I do not. Also, I’m doing this so late in the year that I’d need a wintery book to transition to the next season now… Leave winter book suggestions in the comments.
Is there a new release this year that you’re still waiting for?
We’ve hit the point of the year when publishers are slowing down on releases lest they be forgotten forever because they came out after all the yearly awards. So, the only 2019 release I’m still anticipating is Reverie by Ryan La Sala. It comes out on December 3rd (moved up from its original publication date in January 2020), and I’m scared it won’t get the buzz it deserves now because it’s releasing during the book publishing dead zone. Don’t let this happen! I’ve heard it’s absolutely amazing from many people that I trust! And I do have an ARC of this, so I’m trying to fit it in sometime in December (or maybe January)
What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?
Other than the books I’ve listed above that I started, I really want to start an finish The Resolutions by Mia García, With The Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo, and Full Disclosure by Camryn Garrett!
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite of the year?
I’m not sure. Mostly because, as we get to the end of 2019, I don’t have many solid plans of what I’m going to read for the rest of this year. Also, I try not to think too hard about my favorite of the year until December so I can give all the books a far chance.
Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?
I most definitely have not! I’ve never tried that hard to make monthly TBRs for myself and maybe I should. Maybe it would help me prevent reading slumps. I’ve been debating it for a long time, and as I sit here typing this answer out, I’m thinking that I might spend some time in December figuring out how that’ll work…
