First, a thank you to Delly for tagging me in the Stay At Home Book Tag, created by Princess of Paperback! It’s been a while since I’ve done a blog tag, so this is perfect!Ā Let’s just ignore how long I’ve procrastinated on it, though. And since I only have a few more days until I’m called back to work, I figure I’d better post it now š
(Psst, check the comments for a list of prompts you can copy and paste!)
Laying in Bed
A book you could read or have read in a day
I rarely ever finish a book in a day unless it’s an audiobook, even while I stay at home and have all the time in the world. So, as you can guess, I listened to The Weight of FeathersĀ by Anna-Marie McLemore. Based on how I have it marked on Goodreads, I didn’t finish it on the same calendar day, but I definitely finished it in one 24-hour period. Besides, time isn’t real in quarantine.
Snacking
A guilty pleasure book
Red, White & Royal Blue is a guilty pleasure book purely because I’m a bit embarrassed how much I’m still obsessed with it and how much I still want to fill up half the prompts on any tag with it even more than a year after it was released. (And I read an ARC, too, so it’s been like a year and a half since I first read it.)
Netflix
A series you want to start
I don’t know how long of a series this is or if it’s just a duology, but every time I see something aboutĀ Darius the Great Deserves Better, I feel a bit guiltier that I never readĀ Darius the Great is Not Okay. Maybe this summer I’ll get to it…
Deep Clean
A book that’s been on your TBR for ages
I went to my Goodreads TBR and ordered them by add date and it looks like Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey is the one that’s been on it the longest. I added it in December 2015 š¬ I even have a physical copy of it on my shelves! Maybe I’ll get to it one of these days.
Animal Crossing
A book you recently bought because of hype
It wasn’t aĀ recentĀ purchase (try over a year ago), but most of the books I read are ARCs or library borrows, so it’s theĀ most recent. Everyone and their mother talks about theĀ Shadow and Bone series, and I think it was on sale at BAM so I bought it. Haven’t read it, still! But at least I own a copy.
Productivity
A book you learned from or that had an impact on you
I’ve read a fair amount of non-fiction this year and I hope to keep it going. Just last week I finishedĀ Where Nobody Knows Your Name by John Feinstein and learned a lot about life in Minor League Baseball. It was really interesting to read about the stark contrast between playing for MLB and MiLB. I especially liked that it follows not just players but also coaches and umpires and how their situations differ.
Facetime
A book you were gifted
I’m gonna be real honestāI’m not sure if technically Melissa gifted this Pablo Neruda poetry collection to me or if I stole it. Nonetheless, she told me I could keep it. I mean, I guess I am the one studying Spanish literature.
Self Care
What is one thing you have done recently to look after yourself
I’ve been spending more time outside on the days it doesn’t rain. Normally, I sit in my back yard and try to read while my dogs Lilo and Pudge cycle between whining to come on my lap and running to a random corner of the yard to bark at some noise they heard.
BONUS
Name a book coming out soon
Exciting Times by Naoise Dolan comes out this Tuesday, June 2nd!
One Response
Lilo and Pudge ⤠Dogs are the best. Really interested in what you think to Shadow and Bone when you get to it. It was one that I bought because other bloggers seemed to love it. Take care of yourself š Thanks for completing the tag! Going to go and check out some of those books nowā¦
