This is really the last type of post I want to make right now, but I have to push some of my responsibilities onto the backburner and this is one of them. I struggled through most of November to get posts written and published on time, and I don’t want to make the same mistake in December. Another reason this post is hard to write is that I want to explain why I’m taking this hiatus.
For those of you who don’t know me IRL and aren’t close, this semester has been Rough™, to say the least. I’ve had multiple problems mentally, physically, and academically, and I suppose the worst part is that so many aspects of my life changed at the same time, making it that much harder to cope with.
I came into the fall semester of my junior year with a lot on my plate, and I was aware of it. Between taking 15 credits, becoming vice president of one club and treasurer of another, interning on a local campaign, starting a new job, and continuing a second one, you could safely say I was busy. On top of all that (as if that wasn’t enough), I had recently dropped my therapist (still haven’t found a new one), my parents separated, and I started showing signs of a chronic illness that remains undiagnosed as I type this and for which I cannot get accommodations for because the doctors aren’t sure what it is.
All of those components together resulted in me withdrawing from a course (so, yet another W on my transcript), quitting one of my jobs, and mentally checking out of nearly all my classes to focus on the social aspect of college. It was one unhealthy choice after another, honestly, and I hold a lot of regrets regarding the last three months.
This leads me to my hiatus announcement.
I will hopefully be finished with my fall classes by December 14th, and until then, I need to focus completely on academics. I’ve fallen behind in the one area that should take priority over all the others. At the moment, I expect to be back to blogging around the 16th, but I can’t promise that either. I’ve been given the option to take an Incomplete in at least one of my classes, meaning I’d have to finish assignments from this semester over the winter break.
Although I may not come back to my regularly scheduled content until January or later, I will post another update in mid-December to update everyone on how I’m doing.
Until then, take care of yourselves and good luck on finishing up your classes!
